Expressive Arts
We provide many opportunities to use the visual arts as a tool of self-expression. In fact, we are a leader in the field of access and inclusion in the arts. Our Pure Vision Arts studio in Chelsea is Manhattan's only full-time studio and exhibition space for artists and artisans with developmental challenges.
For those who can—or cannot—use spoken or written language, fine arts activities offer a rich way to experience the world and express inner thoughts and feelings.
Art-making is a fundamental human activity. Art offers a visual language that transcends the spoken or written word and helps facilitate the following:
- communications and expression of inner experiences
- reduction of feelings of frustration and anxiety
- development of a positive self-identity
- sensory and cognitive stimulation
Our Expressive Arts Program offers many interesting opportunities to create art and enjoy the work of others.
